Suisse Adventure 09

The official publication of the 2009 Suisse Adventure Expedition – don’t accept imitations!
Issue 4 – March 2008 (only 4 months to go!)

Welcome to this special “Social Event” edition of the SuisseTimes.

Here you’ll find all the information you need to know about the participant social camp on the 25/26th April.

If you’ve still got questions once you’ve read the articles then please email the subcamp leaders on: contactus@suisse-adventure.org.uk

Get Your Thinking Caps On!

Start thinking now about your fancy dress costumes for our Suisse Adventure. As well as a themed costume for Swiss National Day on the 1st August (the KISC theme will be announced soon) you’ll need a subcamp costume. Some of the Suisse Adventure activities and entertainments will require you to have a costume themed around your subcamp name. So start thinking about designing your togas, kilts, headdresses and helmets!

Why not also think about a costume themed around your unit’s name too? Think cleverly to create simple but effective costumes that don’t take up too much space in your luggage!

OFFICIAL EVENT GUIDE

The official event “Rough Guide” to Suisse Adventure 2009 will shortly be going to press. This guide contains lots of useful information about the campsite, the staff, the activities, the village, keeping healthy and much, much more. We hope that the guide will answer lots of questions you may have about being away at KISC. If you’ve got questions before receiving the guide then save them up for the social camp and we’ll do our best to answer them.

We know who you are, do you know who we are..?

Where is it?

Ferny Crofts Campsite, Beaulieu Road, Beaulieu, Brokenhurst, SO42 7YQ.

When is it?

Saturday 25th April—Sunday 26th April

What time is it?

Arrive and pitch camp between 2pm & 3pm on Saturday. The formal camp will end when the Suisse Adventure clothing is distributed at 10am on Sunday. All participants must be off site by midday on the 26th.

What do we bring?

  • Your usual camping kit (tent, sleeping bag, clothes, wash kit etc).
  • Clothes that CAN (and probably will) get dirty.
  • Breakfast for Sunday morning (we’ll provide dinner on Saturday night and basic drinks for the day).
  • For the evening entertainment you need to bring a themed head dress (hat type thing) to match your subcamp theme. There WILL be prizes!
  • Ideas for a sub camp chant/song (has to be clean, include the name,). How about a dance too?

What will we be doing?

There will be plenty to keep you busy; we have a variety of sub camp activities going on throughout the afternoon and night. Network members and Explorers will have their own evening entertainments.

On the Sunday you will be given your unit’s event merchandise. And you’ll get an opportunity to put questions to the SA09 organisers!

Do we need to let you know we are attending?

No. But please let us know if your unit (or lots of your unit members) are unable to attend. This is just so we don’t overcater.

What about dietary requirements?

Please let us know of any members of your unit have dietary requirements so we can make sure we cater suitably.

If you’ve got more questions about the social camp, please email us at contactus@suisse‐adventure.org.uk — head you message up “Social Camp”.
